This was due to the heavy rains, which caused the lake level to rise high enough where boats wakes could cause damage to piers, moored boats, and shorelines. Heavy runoff events can also wash woody debris into the lake, affecting safe lake use.

Please note that all of South Bay (as shown on the dredging status map on the M.P.O.A. website) has been designated as "No-Wake" until all South Bay dredging operations have been completed. This is being done to prevent lake user conflicts with the on-going dredging operations. The Nippersink Creek inlet on the west end of West Bay, has also been designated as "No-Wake".  The Wonder Lake Marine Patrol will be monitoring both these areas for violations of these No-Wake restrictions.

New to Wonder Lake will be a barge launched fireworks show. This will be located near the lake's center zone between West bay and Wonder Center Association Beach. Lake user’s on Wonder Lake need to be aware of current lake conditions, relative to the on-going dredging operations. For the Memorial Day holiday weekend, dredging operations will shut down mid-day on Friday (5/26), and resume on Tuesday (5/30). The dredge will be moored at O'Brien Shoals, but the sediment pipeline will still be extended across the main body of the lake, in an area roughly between the south shore of West Bay and O'Brien Shoals.
