1. A request for proposal to conduct our annual state required inspections of the Dam and Sediment Drying Facility this fall has been received from the MPOA engineers. The dam inspection has been scheduled for October 18th at 11 am.

2. Efforts to develop a sales market for the dredged sediment continue. The raised garden beds established by the MPOA seem to show that the dredged sediment is very beneficial for plant growth, when compared to different commercially available products.

3. An engineering plan for renovating the protection of the shafts operating the sluice gates at the Wonder Lake spillway has been received and forwarded to the MPOA Marine Contractor for their use in preparing their proposal. The Lake Maintenance Commission will be reviewing the proposal.

4. The MPOA has received reports of a boat towing water-skiers without having a spotter on board, or the required orange flag. Lake users are reminded that when a vessel is pulling a person on water skis, aquaplanes, or similar devices, the operator must have a competent person on board to act as an observer; and that any watercraft towing a water skier or tuber must display a bright orange flag (measuring not less than 12 inches per side) from the time the towed person leaves the boat until they return to the boat. Flying the flag for purposes other than towing is prohibited, so be sure to only display the flag when towing.

5. The Illinois Lake Management Association is hosting a free Zoom webinar on Aquatic Invasive Species on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 from noon – 12:45 pm.
