1. As this is the time of year when docks and lifts are starting to be installed in the lake, it’s important to remember the MPOA rules and regulations: REGULATIONS FOR DOCKS, LIFTS, SWIM PLATFORMS, RAILWAYS OR ANY OTHER FORM OF IN-WATER EQUIPMENT
1. The MPOA has been in contact with the firm under contract to do the repairs and upgrades to the Wonder Lake Dam Sluice Gates. They are currently finishing up some other projects but are tentatively looking at getting our project underway by mid-April.
2. The highly variable weather we’ve been experiencing in late winter has finally produced some much-needed precipitation, roughly 1.6 inches over the past month, as shown at right.
A note from MPOA President Ray O’Brien
Welcome to spring! MPOA directors voted in the February meeting to increase the cost of the lake use stickers. Most of the increase was a direct result of Federal and Illinois laws preventing charging convenience fees on debit card transactions, and for your convenience we have decided to continue to accept credit card payments. There is no prohibition however on offering a discount for cash/check payment, so there will be a $5 per decal discount for cash or check payments.
1. Mother Nature finally relented and allowed a thick ice cover to form on the lake, resulting in a a variety of winter sports being enjoyed. With a forecast above normal temperatures over the coming weeks, lake users are reminded to be aware of potential rapid changes in ice conditions, particularly near inflowing streams.
Welcome to new MPOA President Ray O’Brien
Happy New Year all! As we say farewell to Brad Dennison, who’s stepped down, we welcome a familiar face in Ray. As a fourth generation Wonder Laker, most of Wonder Lake knows Ray and/or his family. O’Brien Shoals was named after his great grandparents and he has so many memories of ski shows, windsurfing, snowmobiling, fireworks, and having penny candy at his grandparents grocery store just to name a few.
