1. As always, with autumn approaching, Wonder Lake landowners with lakefront or stream front properties are strongly encouraged to NOT rake their leaves into the water. Raking or blowing leaves into the lake can result in an abundance of decomposing leaves, raising nutrient levels. This, in turn, can trigger unwanted algae blooms and foster increased aquatic weed growth near your property. In addition, as algae and weeds proliferate and eventually die off, they cause bacteria that consume oxygen in the water, which can kill fish and other aquatic life. Similarly, those folks who have property which contains a tributary stream to Wonder Lake should also avoid raking yard waste and leaf litter into their stream, as they will eventually end up in the lake. Whether you do your own yard work or hire landscape services, please be aware that raking yard waste and leaf litter into the lake is not an acceptable practice. Please consider composting raked leaves and grass clippings or utilizing available landscape waste disposal service.

2. The MPOA typically receives a couple of inquiries every year from lakefront landowners regarding the proper placement of docks, lifts, swim platforms, railways or any other form of in-lake equipment. These inquiries are often initiated because of possible encroachments of in-lake equipment associated with adjacent properties onto a neighboring property’s lake frontage. The MPOA in-water regulations state that: All in water equipment shall be aligned so as not to cross the projection of property lines. Docks shall not come within 10 feet of the perpendicular projection of the property lines. While these situations are typically settled amicably, it would be worthwhile for lakefront landowners to review the positioning of their in-water equipment in case adjustments may be needed prior to the start of the 2025 boating season. 

3. The annual engineering inspection of the Wonder Lake Dam and Sediment Drying Facility is scheduled for Friday, October 18th at 11 am.
