1. As this is the time of year when docks and lifts are starting to be installed in the lake, it’s important to remember the MPOA rules and regulations: REGULATIONS FOR DOCKS, LIFTS, SWIM PLATFORMS, RAILWAYS OR ANY OTHER FORM OF IN-WATER EQUIPMENT
- 1. In-water equipment, including all of the above, shall not project more than 40 feet into the lake from the nearest shoreline
- 2. Docks shall be no greater than 10 feet wide.
- 3. For L-shaped or T-shaped docks, the length of that portion parallel to the shoreline shall not exceed 50% of the landowner’s shoreline footage.
- 4. All in-water equipment shall be aligned so as not to cross the projection of property lines. Docks shall not come within 10 feet of the perpendicular projection of the property lines.
- 5. All in-water equipment including bumpers shall be securely anchored to prevent detachment. 6. Good judgement should be used when installing your docks so that they are not underwater during high water events. It is important to note that the MPOA does not actively seek out violations of these regulations, but it does enforce them when they come to our attention.
2. From early last Thursday morning through last Friday night, roughly 4.5 inches of rain was recorded at the USGS stream gage at Thompson Road. As a result of similar heavy rainfall totals in the watershed above Wonder Lake, Nippersink Creek rose almost 4 feet, with streamflow increasing from 60 cubic feet pr second (cfs) to a peak of 1,500 cfs. As a result, a Lake Closed email was sent out on Friday, April 3rd. The following information is from the MPOA website.
LAKE ACTIVITY DURING LAKE CLOSURES Motorized watercraft are prohibited from using the lake during lake closure to protect the shoreline from wakes and protect people and watercraft from floating debris. Non-motorized vehicles, canoes, kayaks, etc. do not make a wake and travel slow enough to avoid floating debris.

3. This is the time of year when waterfront landowners may be considering installing or repairing shoreline protection practices. The Lake Use Commission is currently reviewing the information being provided to those interested in pursuing those types of projects, and will be providing updated information for landowners, the MPOA office staff, and the MPOA website.
4. The dam spillway repairs and upgrades are still slated for mid-April. It’s important to note that these repairs will be largely conducted by divers. While a No-Wake zone may not be established by the MPOA, if you’re on the lake and see the contactor’s equipment on the dam, please avoid that area of the lake and minimize your wake.
